Foundation Stone Lecture – Part 1

This is the first in a series of three lectures given in November/December 2023, in anticipation of the centennial commemoration of the speaking of the Foundation Stone Meditation and the founding of the Anthroposophical Society. This first talk speaks of the life and mission of Rudolf Steiner, and then continues to speak of the physical foundation stone that was laid in the earth in 1913 to begin the building of the First Goetheanum and its significance, and continues to a description of the fire that destroyed it it in 1922. The lecture lays the foundation for the next study, which continues to describe the founding of the new society as a building without walls, which has a meditative verse as its foundation stone.

Foundation Stone Lecture – Part 2

This is the second session of a three part series, in which we take a detailed look at the Foundation Stone meditation. We especially consider the content of the microcosmic and the macrocosmic verses of the first three panels, speaking of how they deepen our understanding of the threefold nature of body, soul and spirit. This meditation unveils to us a deep understanding of the worth of human life with a content that lifts us above the level of the machine and animals and unveils the central role of the I-AM.

Foundation Stone Lecture – Part 3

In this, the third and final lesson of this series, we turn our attention first to the rhythms of the Foundation Stone Meditation, discovering how the text can be studied in smaller segments, each of which presents its own profound meditative content. We then looked at the Anthroposphical Society itself, an open and collaborative union of spiritual seekers united in the a free assocation of anthroposophical striving.
